Sketch time

Here is my take to Sketchabilities Sketch #59. One thing I love about sketches is that it removes the guesswork with regards to placement of photos and embellishment. You can still own the layout by twisting or tweaking it a little bit and incorporating your own style and design.

Too bad the lighting is not so good while I took a picture of my layout. All my recent layouts reveal my love affair with washi tape. It is my go to stuff right now when I wanted to add some dimension in my page. Another thing I love doing lately is misting and painting, a technique I used to alter the die cut leaf and the doily paper.

Did you see that canvass plate painted with glimmer glam?

Creative process:
1. Die cut a corrugated board and paint with acrylic paint, mists and shimmerz.
2. Adhere washi tape, papers as mat.
3. Die cut a canvass plate and paint with glimmer glam
4. Mist the doily paper with maya road mist.
5. Adhere altogether and finish of with swirls.

Shhh...

This blog is on  a sleep mode so better be quiet...
-ber months are really busy mostly with school and church activities and some things really had to go.
But still, I am able to squeeze in some scrapping in between.

Most supplies from this layout is from my leftover during the Scrap Buffet by Studio Azul. This time, we were allowed to bring home leftover papers and embellishments that are on our table. How cool is that.

Creative Process:
1. Use patterned paper for background.
2. Cut the postage paper from Making Memories and layer to serve as mat.
3. Adhere washi tapes, chipboards and stickers all over.

Warm Up

Last two nights and it will be the most awaited event for scrappers here in the Philippines - the Studio Azul and Visual Creations Scrapbook Laureat. It's gonna be this Saturday at Cameron Hall, North Forbes Park. This event has been announced for months already so that means I have time to prepare. For several weeks now, I have been going through my photos and sketch blogs to prepare.

This Monday, I tried to do a layout. I pulled out my papers and photos. The paper I had is a little bit challenging because of the bold design, which does not perfectly match my photo. Then I remembered this sketch

from My Creative Sketches . This is the debut sketch for the blog and tada...here is what I came up with, in 30 minutes or less. First time to finish a layout in a short span of time. Thanks to sketches.

Just when I thought the layout is done, I had to come back and sprinkle the flowers and the title with Bedazzles and Ranger Glossy Accent. Cool way to add dimension to your project.

Ugoy ng Duyan

We live in a condo but we still managed to put up a duyan (wooden hammock) when Bujoi and Joie were babies. Shown in photo is a hand-me-down duyan from Bujoi to Joie. But as you see, even as Bujoi has outgrown the hammock, he still would want to stay in the hammock with his brother.

Materials used: Studio Azul May 2009 Kit, Radiant Rain Mist, Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks

Another

layout from the Scrap Your Stress Away Event of Studio Azul.

except for the rubon alpha from American Crafts and MM tiny stickers, everything else is from the Scrap Buffet. I just painted the letter stickers with crackle paint and highlighted with American Crafts gold marker.

Baot Ride

Joie always asks us to make paperboats. Last December, he had a chance to experience his first boat ride. While we were playing with the waves, we saw some boats nearby. You cannot sense any fear from this boy when he had his boat ride.

Playing with the Waves

This is Tondol Beachfront. We have to walk around 25 meters from the shoreline to catch these waves.

SandCastles

Here's some more of Joie's holiday pictures.

Kids just love playing in the sand. And it's good that the kids can enjoy the sand everytime we take our vacation at Tondol, Anda, Pangasinan. The beach is nice. May not be as white but it has finer sands than that of Boracay's.

Some Holiday Pictures

Joie had a homework on the first day of class for this year - bring pictures of activities done during the holidays. Ish patiently selected from hundreds of photos, cropped and edited them. Liked how they turned out. I told him he was able to finish an album in one sitting.

It's becoming a tradition to watch the COD Christmas show at the Greenhills shopping center. We had a joint celebration for FILs birthday and Ivan and Liza's baby shower. We headed to Greenhills right after dinner.

We spent Christmas at Tondol, Anda Pangasinan. Kids are already excited to open their gifts early Christmas morn. In the afternoon is a family tradition to have games and prizes for the relatives within the neighborhood.
After the kids opened their gifts, we headed to the beach for some fun. Kids had a blast building sandcastles.

Sneak Peak

Here's a sneak peak of the Little Ambassadors for Christ concert this Saturday, December 20 at The Good Samaritan United Methodist Church. The kids have been practicing for more than two months in preparation for the concert. Last November 15, they sang during the worship services in our church. I am already excited because Bujoi has his solo part in this concert.

Visit to the Dentist

Last Saturday was my kids the semi-annual dental visit. Kuya Bujoi got used to seeing Dr. Eric Hernandez that for the second time, he sat on the dental chair on his own. Dr. Eric even gave him a mirror so that Kuya can watch what he is doing with his teeth.

Joie was left outside the play area while waiting for his turn. He was a little bit scared at first, unlike our previous visit this year, but soon felt comfortable after seeing Sponge Bob on the TV. One thing I like about Dr. Eric is that he can really make his patients feel so comfortable by making friends with the kids and getting to their interests. He had stickers ready to be given away to remove the fright in the kids. And he has this TV on the ceiling so that kids can watch TV while he is doing his works on the kids’ mouth.

Sunday morning, on our way to church, Joie was like playing with me. He pretends he is a dentist cleaning my teeth. He even turned on the light inside the car as if you’re really in a dental chair. How smart is that.
