Cratfy Friday #12: Bloom

You can hardly tell that she is only 4 years old in this photo. I picked the title Bloom which is just perfect for this little girl who will soon bloom in to a fine woman.

This is one of the few layouts I did quickly because it involves only handcutting and paper mixing and matching. The letter stickers from Prima completes the layout. Although this layout does not involve too much painting and drying, I just could not let it pass at least with the Maya road sew it chippies.

All materials are from Studio Azul's kit except for the Maya Road chipboards. The papers are from Prima, Bo Bunny and 7 Gyspies.

Crafty Friday #11: Falling in love with embossing powders

Ever since I got hold of the Frantage line of Stampendous embossing powders, I fell in love with embossing powders once again. They really give a different texture to chipboards. I may have to find other ways to use them, but right now, I enjoy using them on chipboards.

And another idea I learned is to mixed my old embossing powders with the frantage line to revive those old and outdated embossing powders, give them a new twist and catch up with the new trends in giving my projects new dimension, not to mention I get to use them and enjoy them.

Here are two layouts, mostly from my side of the family, with my father and the three grandsons and with my mother and all the girls in the family, except me.

Chipboards are embossed with Stampendous Shabby Bronze mixed with white and gold embossing powders from my stash.

Sweets for my sweets

I bought home half dozen of doughnuts for the boys.

First, for Joie passing the entrance exam in GCF ICS.

Second, for Bujoi's origami presentation for the 2nd grader talent show in Sibika.

And last but not least, for Daddy who serves as my little helper at night when I am asleep, working on whatever household chore I left out at night.

Scrappy Saturday: Scrap Lauriat

I joined Scrap Lauriat which was organized by Studio Azul and Visual Creations. It was a whole day scrapping activity and glad that someone takes care of our rice store, Camaso Rice Dealer, that I can schedule weekend activities, either with the family or simply a me time activity. Scrap Lauriat is so fun, each participant were given a kit to start with and different embellishments, from flowers, alphas, rub on, stickers, chipboards, etc, were provided in our table. Once a participant completes two layouts, she is entitled to get 5 sheets of paper from the paper station and when a table completes 10 layouts, 8 in our case since there are only 4 of us in the table, we get to pick 5 embellishments from the cart. My goal is to complete at least 10 layouts which will bring my total number of layouts to 50 for the year but I was able to complete 12 layouts during the Lauriat, with work in progress mini album and a take home of paper packs and embellishments.

So many

things happened today. MIL had a vehicular accident. She had wounds but overall she is fine. I received a call from my sister that they had to bring and confine Papa to the hospital to really determine what causes his illness. Diagnosis as of now is pneumonia. Doctor said there is nothing to worry about. They are still in the process of doing several tests on him, though.

Weekend Highlights - Week 40

Since the beginning of the year, I never felt we had a weekend break from work. Weekends are always full, whether church or family affair. So I might as well document our weekends because that is really the only time for ourselves.

Friday morning when I learned that my father is sick. He got since two weeks ago, got well and then he got ill again. They had to bring him to the doctor at 1am morning of Friday. My sister and I decided to go home and visit since it has been three months since we last saw them. I seldom or even never saw my father ill. He is always full of energy despite his age and seeing him in bed the night we arrived just gave me this odd feeling. He felt better  Saturday morning and even played with his grandchildren. In the afternoon, he felt pain in stomach again, so had to bring him to an internist who is also a friend. My father was surprised how young the doctor was when I introduced him to our friend. It could be UTI based on initial assessment. That night, he's having fever again and his grandchildren prayed for him before we left for Manila. We need to go back home to attend to Joie's Sportsfest and Family the next day.

The kids had fun with the short visit. We went to the farm and they enjoyed fishing. It was also during this time that my aunts and I had a talk and tried to catch up. We talked about relatives and acquaintances who are getting old,had alzheimer's disease and recent illness and death. Scary because these people were my parents contemporary. This means I have to be more on my knees to pray for my parents.

Since it was kind of an instant reunion for all of us, we already celebrated MJ's 6th birthday which actually today, October 11.

The day is not totally a happy ending as we bid goodbye to them and Papa not feeling well.
